Well, since the semester is about done (and I've reached the required amount of posts), the frequency of my posts are going to start decreasing. If you really liked my tidbits, feel free to come back during the summer, because im sure that i will still post things that i find really interesting. For everyone that left comments, thank you very much! cya guys around, and have a GREAT summer!!!
Bloom and Johansson are melting...
Appearantly Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Chinatown) is in talks with Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson to star in his historical tentpole "Pompeii".
Pompeii is based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Robert Harris. Pompeii tells the story of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79 through the eyes of a young engineer, who is sent to repair the greatest aqueduct in the Roman Empire, which brings water to 250,000 people on the Bay of Naples. He not only has to fight the corrupt forces that control the town of Pompeii, but ultimately the overwhelming power of nature itself.
The film has a projected August start with plans for a five month shoot. Polanski co-wrote the script with Harris.

Harrry gettin' grinded down
One of the big things discussed last week amongst the "film people" is why Grindhouse bombed so bad. And it did, badly. It wasnt a bad movie, it just didnt do well. Many people are pointing to it's 3+ hour running time and america's rediculously short attention span as a reason (I really dont think that was it, i thnk the marketing was all wrong, they didnt handle it right). anyway, other studios are started to panic when they see the mess that the Weinstein brothers have found themselves in, and are cutting their movies down. WB is one of these studios, and they are DEMANDING that david yates to come in cut down the running time of the next harry potter movie, "harry potter and the order of the phoenix". how the hell long was the movie anyway? the book in the longest in the series to date, and you can only cut out so much before people starting getting lost in the plot. i think this is going to piss of A LOT of people, my sister and i included. Potter fans are pretty rabid when it comes to this subject. They feel that the previous films have already been subjected to too much scissor time, with many of the subplots (even aspects of the main plots) gone completely. I would rather see a long, well made and well developed film, as opposed to a paniced lets cut out hlaf the shit so we can save money film. well, all i can say is, hey hollywood, Fuck you!
Mean Green Ed Norton
Appearantly, Edward Norton has been cast as Dr. Bruce Banner in the upcoming 2008 film 'The Incredible Hulk", which they are billing as a sequal/reboot of the 2003 film 'Hulk'. I guess im the only one that didnt have a problem with 'Hulk'. I thought Eric Bana was a great Banner. I think that Norton is a terrible casting call. I really like Edward Norton, I think that he is a great actor, but he just doesnt seem to fit. But, like Topher Grace as Venom and Heath Ledger as the Joker, Im sure that they did cast him for a reason. suppose well just have to wait and see.

guh..i suppose it was inevitable
They're making a Anna Nicole biopic staring Willa Ford. You may remember Willa as the one hit wonder who made the song "I wanna be bad". the thing came out when I was like a sophmore in high school. The only was that a person that isn't high could enjoy this movie is if they get someone and make a really F**ked up dark comedy. Cuz isnt that quite frankly what her pre and post death life is...?

The Usual Artists
Bryan Singer's upcoming WWII thriller has offically been picked up by the newly resurected United Artists. If any of you were unaware, United Artists had life breathed back into it last year by Tom Cruise and his production partner, Paula Wagner. So, you can take a wild guess as to who will be staring in this, thats right, Jesus Christ of Scientology himself. This film reunites Bryan Singer with his "The Usual Suspects" writer Chris McQuarrie. Early reports are saying that the basic premise of the film is about plot by German generals to kill Hitler, and Cruise appearantly be playing the head of these assassins. From what I've been reading, this actually did happened in WWII, and a bomb intended to kill Hitler came close enough to injure der Fuhrer. If they are going with factual events, Cruise will most likely be playing a one Lt. Colonel Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, who made several attempts on Hitler’s life before getting the firing squad. The film planning to shoot this summer.

Supes is still planning another return
Source: BlueTights.net March 19, 2007
Robert Meyer Burnett, who produced and directed behind-the-scenes material for Superman Returns, says that March, 2008 is the planned start of principal photography for the sequel. A Q&A on BlueTights.net reads:
Angeloz asks if I'm coming back to work on the sequel. The answer is...I'm ALREADY working on the sequel. Bryan, Brandon and the whole merry bunch will be coming back...and filming will probably begin March, 2008, as was always planned from the beginning. The WWII film Bryan plans to shoot over the summer will have NO EFFECT whatsoever on the Superman sequel schedule.
Doesn't sound like there will be any kind of delay, as was suggested by Variety a week back.

For whatever reason, it looks kind of blurry and pixelated online, but it does not look like that anyother time. Hope you guys like it, any kind of feedback is gladly welcomed, good or bad. Cya!

Two-Faced Eckhart
It was announced a couple weeks ago, but I've been a lazy sack lately, and I wanted to post on projects other than "The Dark Knight". Aaron Eckhart ("Thank You for Smoking", "The Black Dahlia", "Erin Brockovich") has been casted as Harvey "Two-Face" Dent in the Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins sequel, "The Dark Knight". For all of you out there who are not dorks (shame on you), Harvey Dent is Gotham City's District Attorney. He is one of Bruce Wayne's close friends, and one of Batman's closest Allies. He is horribly scarred with sulfuric acid, destroying half of his face, transforming his into the villainous "Two-Face". The word on the rumor mill is that he will be playing the role in this movie, as well as a second unnamed sequel. Apparently he will be scarred at the end of this film, or very near the beginning of the second. Sounds like pretty solid casting to me, you can judge for yourself. Eckhart will be joining the returning Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Gary Oldman (Lt. Jim Gorden), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), and newcomer Heath Ledger (The Joker). The Dark Knight is due to start filming in April of this year, hitting theatres July 2008, stay tuned for more casting info!

Seeing Shapes....
It was announced a while back that Tyler Mane (X-Men, Troy) had been casted as Michael Myers (aka "The Shape") in Rob Zombie's Remake/Reinvision/Prequal to the John Carpenters Classic "Halloween". I'm a HUGE fan of the original Halloween, it has influenced the way most horror films have been made since its release. So I find it very odd that I'm strangely comfortable with this project. It sounds like Zombie has a pretty nifty take on this. Anyway, the first images of Mane as Myers has leaked it's way onto the net. And I must say for myself, badass man!

Oscar Night
In case you didn't catch the oscars last night (you suck), you missed one of the more intertaining oscars in the last several years. Marty Scorsese took home his first Oscar for best directing for 'The Departed'. The Departed nabbed the Oscar for Best Picture. Forrest Whittaker won for Best Actor for his performance in 'The Last King of Scotland". Helen Mirran won (as perdicted) for her role as Queen Elizabeth in 'The Queen'. Alan Arkin won Best Supporting Actor for 'Little Miss Sunshine', and Jennifer Hudson won Best Supporting Actress for 'Dreamgirls'. 'An Inconvienant Truth' won for Best Documentary. For the complete list of winners, check out THe Internet Movie Database, www.imdb.com

Hardy.....Men?
Remember the young adult crime/mysterty books "The Hardy Boys". I Film adaptation is being made, but it would appear that it is going with the theory that they are adults now. The Film is being called "The Hardy Men". And who are the title roles, Ben Stiller (of course, he has his fingers in everything) and.............................................wait for it......................................Tom Cruise. Did anyone else's eyebrow raise up like 3 inches when they read that. I mean the flick should be interesting, it is just weird that they would pair the two up, they are both so....unhardy like.

The Dark Knight Casting News
Since Katie "I married a space alien" Holmes split from the Batman Begins sequal, "The Dark Knight", rumors have been flying all over as to who will be replacing her. The guys over at latinoreview.com have reported that the role has been given to Maggie Gyllenhaal. That sounds like a pretty solid casting choice to me. She has been pretty decent in the movies I have seen her in (World Trade Center, Stranger Than Fiction). I WAS hoping that they would go for someone who looked a bit older though, more like Rachel McAdams. Chistian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman) looks a good deal older than Mag's. Oh well, we shall wait and see. TDK starts shooting in Chicago, England, and Scotland sometime with in the next few weeks for a July 2008 release. Check back for more info, see ya guys around!

Gone Goyer.
Well, David Goyer (writer of The Blade Trilogy, and most recently, the incredible Batman Begins) has been shown the door by WB from his own "The Flash" project. The studio, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to bring on Shawn Levy. Shawn Levy? Are they serious. Have they seen differant Shawn Levy flicks than I have. Because I have seen Cheaper by the Dozen, and the more recent suck fests The Pink Panther remake and Night at the Museum. Oh wait, let's not forget the other bombs that I have fortunatly not seen, Big Fat Liar and Just Married. So now, when the writer of the critical and box office smash Batman Begins brings you a script, and offers to direct, why do you bring in a director with no style or vision whatsoever? Good call guys...... :(
